The short version
Choose Buffer if you publish to networks PostRoost does not support (Buffer lists Bluesky, Threads, Mastodon, Google Business Profile and Substack, among others), want a community inbox or a link-in-bio page, or run only a few channels and want a low per-channel price. Choose PostRoost if you manage several clients with many accounts each and want one agency price that does not grow with every account you connect.

Pricing, worked through
With Buffer, cost grows with channels. A brand with four channels on Buffer Team would be four times the per-channel price ($40 a month at the annual rate). On PostRoost, accounts never count: Team is $35/month for one brand however many accounts it connects, and Standard covers three brands for $99/month. For a single brand with one or two channels, Buffer is likely cheaper.
Where Buffer is stronger
More networks, an inbox for replies, a link-in-bio page, and very low prices for small numbers of channels.
Where PostRoost is different
Clients as separate workspaces with their own users, brand voice and approval rule; agency plans for 3, 10 or unlimited clients under one subscription; spreadsheet uploads that check every row before creating anything.

Buffer pricing (opens in a new tab) — plans, prices, per-channel pricing, users, free plan limits, trial, networks, approvals on Team, first comment, AI, inbox, Start Page
For one brand with one or two channels, Buffer is likely cheaper because it prices per channel. Once a brand or an agency connects many accounts, PostRoost's per-agency price does not grow with each one.
Can I import my Buffer queue?
There is no importer. Copy or export your scheduled posts into a spreadsheet with date, time, caption and media columns, and load it with PostRoost's bulk upload.
Will my Buffer analytics move over?
No. Past analytics are not imported. Export the reports you need from Buffer first; PostRoost starts collecting numbers for posts it publishes.
Which networks does Buffer support that PostRoost does not?
Buffer's pricing page lists networks such as Bluesky, Threads, Mastodon, Google Business Profile and Substack, which PostRoost does not support.
Does PostRoost have an inbox like Buffer?
No. PostRoost does not reply to comments or messages. Buffer lists an inbox on all its plans.
Is there a link-in-bio page in PostRoost?
No. Buffer's Start Page is a link-in-bio page on all its plans; PostRoost does not offer one.
Where are approvals on each side?
On Buffer, approval workflows are on its Team plan. On PostRoost they start with Team, and clients can approve as client users with their own roles.
How do the free trials compare?
Both list 14-day trials. PostRoost's trial is available on every paid plan, once per agency.
How does bulk upload differ?
PostRoost accepts CSV or Excel, checks every row (dates, accounts, limits, media) before creating anything, and takes media by link or upload. Buffer documents per-upload limits and no YouTube support for bulk.
What do the free plans include?
Buffer's free plan covers 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts per channel. PostRoost Free covers one client with unlimited accounts, 10 posts waiting at a time, 5 AI requests a week and 30 days of analytics.
