Before your team can connect

Meta app with Facebook Login for Business. Until Meta App Review approves the permissions, only people with a role on the app can connect.

Limitations to know about

  • Numbers need the read_insights and pages_read_user_content permissions; without them the post page explains what is missing.
  • After a permission is added to the Meta app, the Page has to be reconnected so the new token carries it.

Connecting a Page

In the client, open Accounts & settings (or “+ Add a social account” in the composer), choose Facebook and sign in with a Facebook account that manages the Page. PostRoost lists every Page that account manages; each connected Page becomes an account you can publish to. Personal profiles and groups cannot be connected; Facebook does not allow tools to post to them.

Frequently asked questions

10 questions

Can I post to a personal Facebook profile or a group?

No. Facebook only lets third-party tools publish to Pages, so PostRoost lists the Pages your Facebook account manages.

What do I need to connect a Page?

A Facebook account that manages the Page. Sign in from Accounts & settings, or from "+ Add a social account" in the composer, and every Page that account manages is listed for you to connect.

Why can only some people connect Facebook at the moment?

Until Meta approves the app through App Review, only people with a role on the developer app can connect. Once it is approved, anyone who manages a Page can.

What can I publish to a Page?

Text, links, up to 10 images published together as one post, or a video. Each image can carry its own alt text.

How do links show on Facebook?

The Link field writes a "Read more" line into the caption, which you can edit. When the post has no pictures, Facebook also shows a link card; with pictures, the link stays in the text.

Is the first comment posted as the Page?

Yes. PostRoost posts it as the Page right after the post goes out, which is useful for extra links or hashtags. First comments are included from the Essentials plan.

Which Facebook numbers come back?

Page followers, plus impressions, reactions, comments, shares and clicks per post where Facebook shares them. PostRoost keeps refreshing each post's numbers for 90 days after it is published.

Can I manage the Instagram account linked to the Page as well?

Yes. Connect it through the Page with Instagram via Facebook Page, or directly with Instagram login. It becomes a separate account with its own caption tab.

What happens if Facebook refuses a post?

Temporary errors are retried automatically with increasing gaps. If Facebook rejects the post outright, it appears in the Actions list with Facebook's own message so you can fix it and retry.

How many Pages can I connect for a client?

As many as the client needs. Connected accounts are unlimited on every plan; only clients count toward plan limits.
