Getting started with PostRoost

From sign-up to your first published post, plus answers to the questions people ask in their first week.

1. Create your account

Go to sign up and enter your name, your business or agency name, your e-mail address and a password (at least 8 characters). You start on the Free plan, with one client already set up under the name you entered.

2. Set up the client

Open the client and go to Accounts & settings. Admins can set:

3. Connect social accounts

In Accounts & settings, choose + Add a social account, pick the network and sign in with an account that has access. For Instagram, choose Instagram login (Business or Creator accounts) or Instagram via Facebook Page. Each network has requirements of its own; see the integrations pages if a network is not offered or a connection fails.

Disconnect keeps the account’s history; reconnecting the same account revives it. Remove on a disconnected account deletes it together with its post history.

4. Create your first post

From the client’s Calendar, choose + Create a post (or hover a day and press +).

  1. Under Publish to, tick the accounts.
  2. Write the caption under All networks; open a network’s tab to tailor it.
  3. Add photos or videos, alt text, a link and, if you like, a first comment.
  4. Choose Schedule for later and pick a date and time, or Post now.

5. Approvals

If the client requires approval, writers press Submit for approval. Approvers (agency owners and admins, client owners and admins) see a count next to Approvals in the sidebar, and approve, request changes with a note, or reject. Posts that need work appear under Actions with the reason; edit and resubmit, or retry a post that failed to publish.

6. Invite your team and your client

Invitations are sent by e-mail with a link (valid for 7 days) to confirm the address and choose a password. Extra users need the Team plan or above.

7. Check the results

Open Analytics for a client: the overview compares the period with the previous one, and the reports show daily charts per account. Each post page has a Performance section and Refresh now.

Frequently asked questions

10 questions

I forgot my password.

Use Forgot password? on the sign-in page. The reset link is valid for one hour.

Why can I not add another client?

Your plan's client capacity is reached. Free, Essentials and Team include one client; Standard includes 3, Professional 10, and Enterprise has no client limit. See pricing.

Why did a post fail?

Open Actions: each failed post shows the network's own message. Common causes are an expired connection (reconnect the account), media the network does not accept, or a missing permission.

Why are some numbers missing in analytics?

Networks decide what they share. LinkedIn shares numbers for Company Pages only, and some numbers need extra permissions. The integration page for each network lists what comes back.

Can I use PostRoost on my phone?

PostRoost runs in a web browser. Some screens, like the month calendar, are easier on a larger screen; there is no mobile app.

My invitation link has expired. What now?

Invitation links are valid for 7 days. Ask an agency owner or admin, or the client's owner or admin, to send a new invitation.

How do I change my name or sign-in e-mail?

Open Settings, then Your profile, to change your own name and sign-in e-mail address.

Can I disconnect an account without losing its history?

Yes. Disconnect keeps the account's posts and analytics, and reconnecting the same account revives it. Remove on a disconnected account deletes it with its post history.

Why is a network missing when I add an account?

A network is only offered when the PostRoost deployment you use has a registered developer app for it. Some networks also review that app before outside accounts can connect; the integration pages explain each one.

Where are posts that have no date yet?

In the client's Posts list. The calendar shows a link to the posts without a date, such as drafts and approved posts waiting for a time.
